Derwent Valley Concert Band – Georgetown Penang

The Derwent Valley Concert Band ( from Hobart, Tasmania is one of Australia’s top wind bands having been State and National champions and runners up many times. This year, on their Malaysia Tour, they will be presenting concerts at various cities – Kuala Lumpur, Taiping, Penang, and Kota Kinabalu.
They will collaborate with local music organisations to perform with.

Among them is a Malaysian singer, composer and teacher, Mia Palencia who will be touring with the band performing jazz/popular standards and some of her own compositions, including So Many Hands, the theme song she wrote for and performed at the opening of the 2017 South East Asian Games and Sabahan Songs – ‘a modern-day immigrant story’ commissioned especially for this tour.
