LETTER FROM EJAN
Chief Executive Officer of INXO Productions
Dear friends,
‘Arts Beyond Distance’ is an online talk series, initiated as a platform to bring distance closer for open discussion, especially in this challenging time of restricted movement order. ‘Arts Beyond Distance’ features one Malaysian artist at a time, look into their artistic statement, artistic practice, artistic approach, in relation to society growth, cultural background and contemporary identity.
Now more than ever, consumption of arts in online platforms rises to a new height. There are certainly many who personally experienced how arts shaped our lives and behaviour on an individual level as well as community at large. Initiative such as ‘Arts Beyond Distance’ aimed to articulate the values and impact of the arts, further promote arts and culture as an asset to our nation and humanity.
Research has proven participation in the arts served as a foundation to excel in academic achievements, increased ability in creative problem solving, enhanced teamwork spirit, as well as nurturing many other qualities and skills required to manage challenges in our complex and rapidly changing world. For a society at large, arts contribute to maintain social cohesion, promote inclusivity, generate economic growth, and advocate change for the common good, among other benefits we could identify.
By supporting arts and artists, we promote personal and collective well-being, generate positivity through the ‘can-do’ spirit, accelerate visibility and cultivate art appreciation skills. ‘Arts Beyond Distance’ aimed to be a safe space for conversation, a forum to raise questions, a common ground to inspire creativity, an archival hub to present who we are and what matters to us.
