Chang Tieh-Chih
Renowned writer and critic, Chang is currently the Deputy Secretary of the General Association of Chinese Culture, Taiwan. He is also the editor-in-chief of the Fountain magazine, and his work has been published in major print media across several regions in the sinosphere. He has taken roles such as the host and editor of Talk To Taiwan, head consultant of TechNews Taiwan, editor-in-chief and co-publisher of the Hong Kong publication City Magazine, and a founding writer of the Chinese edition of Bloomsberg Businessweek. He is currently a doctorate candidate at the Columbia University for political science, and has written seminal books including A Burning Generation: Indie Culture, the Generation of Youths and the Civil Spirit, Sound and Fury: Can Rock Music Change the World? and more.
Shift And Change In Taiwanese Culture And Their New Motivations
A retrospective on the Taiwanese culture and its shifts and changes in the past ten years, examining the ‘hipster’ culture on a deeper level, with a focus on the youth that is effecting the change, returning to Taiwan to plant roots and taking over mainstream culture with thoughtful and artisanal independent movements. Chang will discuss and analyze this phenomena and also introduce the new role of the General Association of Chinese Culture in contributing to the progress of Taiwanese culture.
