Belle Chuang
A lover of art and travel, Belle decided to leave her life behind as an industrial designer and took off to Australia for a work holiday. There she became a street artist, and switched paths from her work holiday to earning her keep by selling her art while traversing the roads and streets of Australia. She spent a year painting hundreds of portraits, becoming a teacher of art, painting murals in restaurants and putting her name and the Taiwanese flag under it; she’s even exchanged her art for food and shelter in a mansion of 10000 square feet. Her experience is testament to the idea that the working holiday is neither an aimless lifestyle nor is it a waste of time, but offers one the broadening of one’s horizon. Belle has since become the first Taiwanese backpacker artist, funding her holidays with art. In 2013 she boarded the MSC Cruises as an artist, becoming Taiwan’s first artist-at-sea.
Travelling Across The Seas With My Paintbrush
From Australia to Europe, from land to sea, from being a designer to an artist, throughout different stages of life as a wife and then a mother, Belle has committed her life to art and to her dreams of making art wherever she goes, painting the world of her dreams. She has carved a path out for herself, building a life of wonder and beauty with her art.
